France gave the Statue of Liberty to the United States in recognition of the friendship established between the two countries during the American Revolution. By 1877 Bedloe's island was under consideration for the Statue of Liberty and a garrison post had been built around the original fort. The statue was constructed in France, dismantled for shipping, and re-assembled on top of an American-built pedestal located on Bedloe's Island. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886, by U.S. President Grover Cleveland. The garrison post buildings of Fort Wood were torn down from 1948 to 1950. In 1956 Congress officially changed the name of Bedloe's Island to Liberty Island. Energy Ltd. is a Tel Aviv, Israel manufacturer and marketer of Sea Wave Power Plants - utilizing sea wave energy to produce electricity economically, and in an environmentally-friendly manner claiming that their system can generate electricity for 2 cents per kWh.
Basically, the buoys are placed on a breakwater and they move up and down, according to the frequency of sea waves. The buoys' movement press a hydraulic liquid, which is regulated by systems that convert the energy to circular systems that operate an electric generator.
The buoys, which make 10% of the system, are placed in the water, and the rest of the whole system, which makes 90%, is set on land with the option being located on up to 500 meters from sea shore. In the event of storms, the system is easily accessible for technical service. Additionlly, the buoys are neutralized and laid down on the jetty or the shore.

Below are some examples of how Geographic Information Systems (GIS) modeling is used in hydrogen infrastructure, demand, market and resource analyses. The JPG images are samples of the maps available in the following PDFs. Refer to the report for further information. (JPG 129 KB) GIS is used to analyze demographic, socio-economic, transportation and policy data that influence hydrogen demand. The demand scenarios were further use to estimate infrastructure needs and usage throughout the country, and to predict transition infrastructure costs.

(JPG 151 KB) This project identifies a minimum infrastructure that could support the introduction of hydrogen-fueled vehicles. The objective was to determine the location and number of hydrogen stations nationwide that would make hydrogen fueling available at regular intervals along the most commonly traveled interstate roads, thus making interstate and cross-country travel possible.
(JPG 188 KB) This study was conducted to estimate the potential for producing hydrogen from key renewable resources (onshore wind, solar photovoltaic, and biomass) by county in the United States. It considers hydrogen production using wind and solar electrolysis as well as gasification and steam methane reforming methods for converting biomass to hydrogen.
GIS provides support to the HyDS (Hydrogen Deployment System Model), a computer model of U.S. market expansion of hydrogen production from wind and other sources over the next 50 years.
